About the project:
Emoji and stickers play a key role on every Discord server – they bring personality, emotion, and a sense of community to the conversation. This project focused on creating a custom set of emoji and stickers capturing the unique personality of Hugo, a photogenic grey-and-white British shorthair cat and beloved mascot of the server.

Brief:
The server owner wanted a set of personalized emojis that would reflect Hugo’s playfulness, cuteness, and charm. We agreed on 10 essential emojis for reactions like sleep, joy, “hi,” excitement, big eyes, or “cool,” plus 6 larger sticker-style illustrations showing Hugo in various expressive poses.

Process:
I started by browsing photo references of Hugo to capture his distinctive features and expressions. Then I selected a stylization that would suit the tone and format of Discord communication.

Using my sketchbook as a starting point, I created the final digital artwork in Adobe Photoshop, using clear linework, simple colors, and minimal shading to keep the emoji readable even at small sizes. All assets were then formatted and optimized specifically for use on Discord.

 

The result was a set of expressive visuals that not only enriched the server’s communication but also brought joy and personality to the community.
